The purpose of the MCHA Education Committee is to inform, educate and train members and their employees in basic hospitality principles and current issues relevant to the hospitality industry.
Committee members help MCHA actively promote hospitality as a career choice and groom employees for long-term growth and retention. The organization provides an ongoing educational seminar series that offers professional development opportunities for front-line staff, young managers and experienced executives alike.
MCHA also awards scholarships to college-age scholars and working adults studying hospitality, food and wine. Since 1995, MCHA has given more than $40,000 in scholarships to recipients attending classes at California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB), Monterey Peninsula College (MPC), Le Cordon Bleu, the University of California, Davis, University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), New York University and others. Additional scholarship dollars support awardees enrolling in the new sustainable hospitality management program at CSUMB. This value-added degree provides a foundation in tourism leadership, operations and marketing.
